Another Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop Card

Yes I doubled up!  Not sure how between work and the kids but I decided to make two cards, as I wasn't quite satisfied with this one but decided to post it anyway. This one was a bit simpler, I used Smokey Shadow and True Black card stock on the base. The True Black card stock was run through my Big Kick with an embossing folder. The centers of each square were just big enough to fit a 5 mm iridescent adhesive tile in the middle. I used  raspberry fizz grosgrain ribbon. I also die cut two scalloped heart with a new Spellbinder nested Scalloped Heart die I purchased. For the middle heart I cut it out of white and ran it through my Xyron X sticker maker and coated it with Martha Stewart Onyx glitter. The final touches was attaching DIY thickers with Martha Stewart bubblegum colored glitter, and brushing black glitter glue along the grosgrain ribbon. If you click on the image you can see the detail much better.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my card!  Enjoy the rest of the Blog Hop!

Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop

It's that time of month again!!!

This month Nichole and the Papertrey Ink team decided to have the following theme for the blog hop:

To tell you the truth I haven't done very many black cards so this definitely was a challenge. I decided to create two cards. Both with a Valentine's Day theme, and this is what I came up with:

This first card I used a Pure Poppy base and computer generated verse at the bottom reading "Love never fails...." from the bible verse about love.  I then took my SU embossing folder and ran True Black cardstock inside with my Big Kick.  I then inked it up with Versamark over the embossed edges and added clear embossing powder.  (That was a chore to sweep out all the little crevices and recessed areas free from embossing powder), used my heat tool to set, and then used embossing powder again to set over the wording on the front.  I added True Black twill tape ribbon to the top, bottom and midsection of the card and brushed on stickles glitter glue in black and red.  Then I took the red glitter glue and filled in each little embossed circle. If you click on the image you can see the image detail much better. It kind of has a gothic look to it, doesn't it??

I hope you enjoyed viewing my card.  I had fun sharing!
Thanks for coming by and enjoy the rest of the blog hop!!!
