Papertrey Ink: Make It Monday - A la Carte

Make It Monday A la Carte

This past Make It Monday was A la Carte style.  We got to choose which Make It Monday challenge we would like to do and I chose #54 Glitter Buttons.

I've been making glitter buttons for a long time, and never thought of it as a challenge except when I didn't have the time needed and would attempt to find a similar color button already glittered up. But alas I couldn't find what I was looking for so I ALWAYS keep a bottle of glitter glue on hand!!! LOL!

I was trying to figure out to do with all the big buttons I had hanging around since I use the little ones for accents on my cards mostly. With Christmas being here, it was the perfect opportunity to use them up and this is what I came up with:

I used the following supplies to make this card
(All from Papertrey Ink unless noted)

Sentiments from Holiday Button Bits stamp set
Scarlet Jewel Cardstock
Stampers Select White Cardstock
Dark Chocolate Cardstock
Holiday Flourishes and Swirls Patterned Paper
Nestabilities Scalloped Oval Die
Tea Stained Duo ink cubes
Colorbox Frost White Ink pad
Ripe Avocado Buttons
Scarlet Jewel Buttons
Scarlet Jewel Twill Ribbon
Studio G Diamond Glitter Glue
Studio G Green Glitter Glue
Studio G Burgundy Glitter Glue
Any paint brush

It was a lot of fun to make!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Papertrey December Blog Hop Challenge

December's Papertrey Blog Hop Challenge is here!
My goal is to participate every month to keep my creativity flowing.

Here is the challenge for this month:

So I automatically decided to whip out my embossing folders to see which one I'd like to use.  I bought several new ones this past week at Joann's and I love the Cricut Cuttlebug embossing folder designs. Especially since they now come with a coordinating border embossing folder!!!  Here's a few shots of an anniversary card I made:

Personalize Tags - a start of a new tradition for the little ones

Here's the first personalized tag I made for the little ones of my family.  I'm going to start making them for Christmas and their birthday. They will be framed so that they can hang on their walls. Something they can have for a lifetime.  I'm hoping I'm around long enough to be able to do this for their little ones.  Things have been so dang crazy with school, and now that's over so I can get back to doing what I love to do on my days off, PAPERCRAFT!!!! LOL!

I'm back!!! New Creations

I'm back!  I've sidelined my stamping for the last 4 months due to alot going on in my life.. Things that have put alot into perspective for me as for what I want in life, who I want to be.  I've learned alot about myself over the last few months and I feel that I've become a stronger person because of it. One of my changes was to enroll in EMT school.  I start school next month to become an EMT-B.  I will be finished school in December and will be eligible to take the National Registry Exam by January after I pass.

God only gives us what we can handle right??  I had lost all desire to stamp and design and paper craft for the last few months and then something hit me... It's only of my escapes, my loves when things get stressed. Anyway I'm slowly regaining my mojo, and decided to start small and go with tags... with the holidays around the corner I figured it was perfect timing to ease myself back into things.  Here's some of my creations.

Pictures of my EP testing

I tested out all my Embossing Powders yesterday to see how they would look... Here's some pics:

Alot of great matches to Papertrey Ink Colors... I can't wait to buy the rest of the Zing! Embossing Powder line.  There are some good matches for Michael's Recollections brand too.  Haven't gotten my crafty little hands on too many WOW! EP's since they are just barely entering the US market, and every dang online store I find that carries them, only has the glitter EP, no opaque WOW! powders.  SIGH!  For now, the beautiful colors of ZING! will do!

My newest buy!!!

I decided I was going to concentrate on accessories for stamping and card making this month, rather than stamps.

I'll put an order for that next week when I get paid.  Going to have a very nice paycheck with all the overtime I've put in the last couple weeks.  I found a FABULOUS buy on ZING! Embossing Powder by American Crafts!  I paid only $3.88 plus shipping!!

I bought 9 different kinds and paid under $40 with shipping. The shipping was fast too!  I ordered these last Saturday and the package arrived on Thursday the following week. Order to door time: 5 DAYS!!!  I will definitely be purchasing from them again!!!

Here's the link to the website for Scrapbooking Warehouse: http://www.scrapbooking-warehouse.com/

Have a great day everyone!!!

New stamp cases compared to SU's cling stamp case

I recently bought new dvd sized acrylic cases for my clear stamps from www.tapeonline.com.  I LOVE THEM!!!  Here's a comparison to the one and only SU cling stamp case I own...

Here's the two side by side

Here's the SU one.. dang thing won't stay closed.  Keeps popping open

Here's a side view of the new case from www.tapeonline.com

Here's the back of the new case, with labels attached where I placed the stamps

and another side view of both cases together to show the difference in width.  Again the SU one won't stay closed... GRRRR!

Each new case was 88 cents each... I bought 30 and spent $40 with shipping.  Not bad huh??

My newest goodies, some new cards and a few updated studio storage pics

Hi all!  I know it's been a while.  Things have been so crazy at work... on top of the fact that I started a new/old position at work.  I'm back in the ER as a registrar, the same position I started with as a per diem almost 2 years ago!!!  Wow I can't believe it will be 2 years with the hospital in August.  I've officially been out here in Arizona now two years yesterday.. Sadly I haven't been able to afford or get the time off to fly home and see my family in those two years. <SIGH>

Here's a pic of my newest purchase from PTI, their 5 year Anniversary February release!!

And here's what I made with a couple of those sets!!!

I used the Framed Out #1 $5 set here

Here I used the Sweet Spring and Background Basics Medallions sets with Copics

I used the Scrambled Eggs and Tag Sale #3 die here with Copics

I also wanted to show my fellow PTI fans how I store my ribbon and inks so here is a pic of each

This is currently holding the PTI Grosgrain ribbon in every color... I think I'm going to pick up another one of these when I get another 50% off coupon at Michaels or the next time they are on sale for 40% off. (I'm already a Gold member there, so I get loyalty savings from time to time of $5 off a $20 purchase)  Is that sad that I'm a gold member already and it's only March 2nd??

This is my ink storage/$5 PTI stamp set storage area.  It's made of Foam Board.. NICE AND CHEAP!!! lol!  The top of it holds gift boxes I bought from Dollar General for $1 each and I am in the works of finding the right aqua spray paint to paint all the boxes blue to match the aqua mist.  Next to the last box are my Vintage Tea Dye Duo cubes. The ink storage itself has the following from left to right: Amuse Pigment Inks, PTI Pigment Inks, and then 3 rows of PTI Dye Ink Pads.  I keep my Memento Black, Versa Mark, Colorbox Frost White and my Glue Pad on a shelf next to it.  I covered the foam board with some scrapbook paper from SU that I had last year, and it almost matches the Scarlet Jewel Bitty Dot paper, so I was happy with that.

Kiddos Valentine Tags/Cards

It's that time of year, and my time honored tradition of making the kids valentine cards.  Sadly I didn't take a photo of last years cards, but this year I have.  I will have to start doing this each year I make them to show the progress of my growth as a paper crafter... This years is definitely a step up from last year by far... A shame I can't show you the difference.  Well here's what the kids are passing out this year:

Here are the supplies I used:

PAPER: PTI Vintage Cream, PTI Pure Poppy

INK: Memento Tuxedo Black

ACCESSORIES: Red/Gold Ribbon, PTI Vintage Button Holiday Mix, Aleen's Tacky Glue, PTI Tag Sale #1 die, Exacto Corner Punch

STAMPS: PTI Holiday Button Bits, PTI Everyday Button Bits

A little trick:  I took the bulb string stamp from Holiday Button Bits and turned it upside down to make the lollipop sticks... Isn't that awesome!!!!  Then the sentiment from Everyday Button Bits fit perfectly with the image I was trying to create, and of course the buttons as the lollipops themselves!  They can't wait to pass these out!!

Sparkling Love

Well time to post a few Valentine type creations.  This one can work for any "love" themed occasion, weddings, engagement, anniversary or for the upcoming Valentine's day holiday.  It can be done in any color really just switch the color out to your fave!

I used the following supplies:

Paper: PTI SS White, PTI Ocean Tides

Ink: PTI Ocean Tides

Accessories: Two Way Glue Pen, Cuttlebug Swirls Embossing Folder, PTI ribbon in Ocean Tides, PTI Die Limitless Layers 1 3/4", Joann's Crystal Diamonds Glitter, Foam Dimensionals

STAMPS: PTI Tags for Spring, PTI Mega Mixed Messages

The longest part in making this card was the gluing and glittering.  I ran my two way glue pen over every embossed swirl and then coated it all with the glitter.    I love the white on white look.

My New Year's Resolution: A few new cards...

My New Year's Resolution is to revamp my website: www.designsbykathie.com with all new samples since I changed from using exclusively Stampin' Up stamps and supplies to exclusively using Papertrey Ink stamps and supplies.  My short term goal is to make 5 cards from each category on my website with my new vendor.  I sat down the weekend after we moved into the new house with my sketch binder and paged through the whole thing till I found a few sketches I liked.  I then went through my PTI Color combo collection to find what colors I'd like to work with and then went card crazy.. Here's what I made:

This can be a Birth Announcement, a Baby Shower Invite or a card to the Mom-To-Be

I used PTI Spring Rain, Enchanted Evening, Vintage Cream, and Stamper's Select White for cardstock. I stamped the images in PTI Spring Rain and Enchanted Evening. Ribbon is SU''s Very Vanilla (trying to use that up and not be wasteful of great grosgrain ribbon), Button is from PTI's Vintage Button Mix.  I also used the Limitless Labels 1 3/4" die collection.  The glitter is Martha Stewart fine glitter in Sugar Cube. The stamps come from Hero Arts It's a Boy Clear Stamp set.

This is a girl version of the above card and can be a Birth Announcement, a Baby Shower Invite or a card to the Mom-To-Be

I used PTI Sweet Blush, Autumn Rose, Vintage Cream, and Stamper's Select White for cardstock. I stamped the images in PTI Sweet Blush and Amuse Studio's Currant. Ribbon is SU''s Very Vanilla (trying to use that up and not be wasteful of great grosgrain ribbon), Button is from PTI's Vintage Button Mix.  I also used the Limitless Labels 1 3/4" die collection.  The gillter is Martha Stewart fine glitter in Sugar Cube. The stamps come from Hero Arts It's a Girl Clear Stamp set.

This is an everyday Thank You card that I chose a different sketch for.  I started off with the color combo of PTI Scarlet Jewel, Raspberry Fizz, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado and Stamper's Select White for the base.  I used Bitty Dot Basics Patterned paper in Ripe Avocado and Simple Chartreuse.  I stamped the images in PTI Ripe Avocado, Simply Chartreuse, Scarlet Jewel and Raspberry Fizz.  I inked the edges of the Nestibility Circles in PTI's Tea Stain Duo and used foam dimensionals to make them pop above the paper.

More to come hopefully this weekend.  I hope you enjoyed looking.  Thanks for stopping by!

Well we moved and I'm back!!!

My family and I moved after the holidays, the weekend of New Years Eve and New Years Day.  Got my studio set back up and gained a little more wall space, but lost my metal door so had to improvise with the magnets..  Our new refrigerator gained all my magnets that I had on the door at the previous house and I've had to use push pins instead.. I'm sure it will get changed around sometime in the future.  I'm already planning for tax time to get more shelves to hold more stuff!  LOL! Like 2 more sets of what I have already continuing on the wall so that it looks like an L Shape. I think more of the plastic 3 drawer organizers.  Here's some pics of the studio back together.

See what I mean about continuing the shelves around to the other wall so that it looks L Shaped?

Another view to see the computer desk next to my studio (convenient when I'm search for something craft related)

Another view to show that the space was big enough to accomodate the dining area, the computer desk and my studio!

It's still in my dining area, but with this house this area is sooooooooooooo big, that we were able to fit the dining area, our computer desk and my studio!  Yes that is a wide open back door leading to our patio and back yard at the beginning of January... Gotta love the Southwest!! :)
